On last Thursday we left towards Rostock by ferry, me Yosal and my parents. Our destination was the sighthound track of Greppin where the annual azawakh specialty show was held.
Traveling with Yosal was really easy and he didn't mind spending 22 hours in the ferry. Of course there was a place for dogs to go out and do their business.
We arrived in Rostock on Friday evening and from there we drove to Dessau (which was located about 20km from the showground). We spent the night at Dessau and the next morning it was time to drive to the show.
Yosal was entered in intermediate class where a total of eight azawakh males were entered. Yosal presented himself very well and finally the judge, frau Gabriele Schröter, chose Yosal as the 4th best male in the intermediate class with an excellent grade! All four males placed were Tombouktou's-azis by the way.. ;)
I will write Yosal's critique here as soon as I get it. But from what I heard the judge say, she thought Yosal was a bit feminine but otherwise really balanced and harmonic. The results from the specialty you can find here.
The weather in Greppin was sunny and really really hot. So it was quite nice comparing to freezing Finland, I bet Yosal liked it too!
In the show, a total of 108 azawakhs were entered (only few were not presented). So it was a really fantastic experience to see such a great amount of these beautiful dogs from different lines and types. Also a couple African imports were presented which was great! Also it was wonderful to meet new people and of course Yosal's breeder, Gabi, and Yosal's siblings and parents!
We had to leave early back home since we had a little change of plans. We decided to go back home through Via Baltica and so late on Saturday night we arrived in Warsaw where we spent the night.
On sunday we kept driving and in the evening arrived to Riga where we spent the next night. Finally on Monday we arrived in Tallinn just in time to catch the 14:00 ferry to Helsinki.
Our trip was in every way really successful and once again I have to say that traveling with Yosal is really a pleasure. He adapts really well to new environments and sleeping every night in a different hotel! So I'm really looking forward for our next trip abroad.. :)
Here's a link to a few pictures I took at the show.
